Our S1 and S2 students recently represented our school at the TeenEagle English Competition (Regional Round) in Almaty, Kazakhstan and awarded outstanding results. This competition brings together outstanding young learners from different countries to engage with global issues, particularly the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including promoting quality education and reducing inequality.
In preparation for the competition, students explored the provided materials through reading and discussion, developing a deeper understanding of these global challenges and reflecting on the role young people can play in advocating for positive change. During the competition, participants demonstrated their English proficiency, critical thinking, and knowledge through three components: a knowledge quiz, a spelling bee, and a writing challenge.
Beyond the competition itself, the trip was also a meaningful cultural experience. For many students, it was their first visit to Central Asia, where they had the opportunity to encounter a new cultural landscape, experience a different climate, and interact with peers from diverse backgrounds. Walking through the city of Almaty also offered students a chance to witness the historical legacy of the Soviet era, allowing them to connect what they had learned in classrooms with real-world contexts.
